SRD R370 Grant Payment Dates

The SRD (Social Relief of Distress) R370 grant does not follow the same schedule as other SASSA grants. SRD payments are processed near the end of each month, and the exact date can vary. SASSA does not publish a fixed SRD payment calendar.

How SASSA Determines Payment Dates

SASSA follows a consistent rule for determining payment dates each month:

  1. Old Age / Pension: Paid on the 2nd working day of the month. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding South African public holidays.
  2. Disability: Paid on the 3rd working day of the month (one day after old age).
  3. Children & Others: Paid on the 4th working day of the month. This includes child support, foster care, care dependency, war veterans, and grant-in-aid.

If a public holiday falls on a weekday at the start of the month, all dates shift forward. For example, if the 1st and 2nd of a month are public holidays, the old age payment moves to what would normally be the 4th or 5th of the month. This is why the exact date is different every month.

Why old age is always paid first

SASSA staggers payments over three days to reduce congestion at pay points, ATMs, and retail stores. Older persons are given priority as the first group to be paid, recognising that they may find it more difficult to wait in long queues.

Payment Day Tips

Make the most of your grant payment with these practical tips:

Before payment day

  • Make sure your banking details are correct and up to date. See the Banking Details Guide if you need to make changes.
  • If you use a SASSA/Postbank card, check that your card is not expired or damaged.
  • Know your payment date so you can plan your shopping and bill payments.

On payment day

  • If your money does not reflect by the morning, wait until the end of the day. Banks process payments in batches.
  • Avoid withdrawing your entire grant at once. Draw what you need and keep the rest in your account for safety.
  • If you collect at a pay point, try to go during off-peak hours to avoid long queues.
  • Keep your SASSA card and PIN safe. Never share them with anyone.

If your payment is late

  • Wait 2–3 business days after the expected date before taking action.
  • Check that your bank account is active and not frozen.
  • Call the SASSA toll-free line: 0800 60 10 11
  • Visit your nearest SASSA office with your ID document.
  • See our SASSA Contact Guide for all contact options.
