Apply for SASSA SRD R370 (2025)
Quick start
- Apply online: srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/application/auth
- WhatsApp note: SASSA’s WhatsApp (082 054 0016) is for information only. You cannot complete a full SRD status check on WhatsApp. Always use the online application link above.
Who qualifies?
- 18–59 years, living in South Africa
- No or very low income (below R624 per month)
- Not receiving any other social grant, UIF, or NSFAS
- Willing to be verified across government and bank databases
What you need
- Your South African ID number
- Your cellphone (to receive OTP and SASSA messages)
- Bank account details (optional, but faster payments)
Step 1: Open the site and verify your cellphone
- Click the official link: srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/application/auth
- Enter your mobile number
- Enter the one‑time PIN sent by SMS to confirm it’s your number
Step 2: Consent (simple overview)
You’ll see a consent page. By accepting, you give SASSA permission to verify your details with official databases (Home Affairs, UIF/Department of Labour, SARS, banks, and other government sources). This helps confirm your identity, that you are not receiving other benefits, and that your income is below the limit. If you withdraw consent later, your application will stop.
Step 3: Declaration (one confirmation)
Next is a declaration. You confirm in one step that you meet the SRD rules. In plain language, this means:
- You are 18–59, live in South Africa, and are a citizen/permanent resident/refugee/special‑permit holder or valid asylum seeker
- You have little to no income (below the monthly threshold)
- You are not receiving another adult grant, UIF, or NSFAS, and haven’t unreasonably refused work/education
- You’re not living in a government‑funded institution
- Your details are true and you’ll update SASSA if anything changes
Step 4: Submit
Submit your application and keep the confirmation. Your application remains active and will be re‑checked monthly for eligibility.
After you apply
- Your application stays active; eligibility is checked monthly
- Payments usually occur toward the end of the month; funds can take 2–3 business days to reflect
- Keep your bank details updated: Change Banking Details
- If you are declined, appeal within 90 days: srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals and see our SRD Appeals Guide
