When can you appeal?

Appeal within 90 days of a decline. You can appeal each declined month separately.

Common decline reasons

  • Income above R624 detected in bank data
  • Receiving another grant, UIF, or NSFAS
  • Identity mismatch or data errors

How to appeal (online)

  1. Open the SRD site: srd.sassa.gov.za
  2. Go to Appeals/Independent Tribunal section
  3. Enter your ID and phone, select the month, state your reason
  4. Upload supporting proof (e.g., bank statement showing no income)
  5. Submit and note your reference

After you appeal

  • Decisions can take a few weeks. If successful, unpaid months are back-paid.
  • Keep your contact and bank details updated to avoid further delays.
