SRD Appeal (2025)
Updated on 09 November 2025
When can you appeal?
Appeal within 90 days of a decline. You can appeal each declined month separately.
Common decline reasons
- Income above R624 detected in bank data
- Receiving another grant, UIF, or NSFAS
- Identity mismatch or data errors
How to appeal (online via ITSAA)
- Open the official tribunal portal: srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals (Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals – ITSAA)
- Enter your 13‑digit ID and the cellphone number used on your SRD application
- Click Send Pin, enter the OTP to authenticate
- Select the month, state your reason clearly, and upload supporting proof (e.g., bank statement showing no income)
- Submit and save your reference. Check the portal regularly for updates
Track your appeal status
Use the same portal to view results for each month you appealed. Typical statuses: Pending, Approved (appeal successful), Declined (appeal unsuccessful).
After you appeal
- Reviews can take 60–90 days. If successful, unpaid months are back‑paid.
- Keep your contact and bank details updated to avoid further delays.
Important
- Appeal status is managed by ITSAA and is separate from the general SRD status. Your SRD page updates after SASSA receives the tribunal outcome.
- Only use the official appeals portal. Avoid third‑party sites.
