Biometric Enrolment for Grant Applications (BBE)
From September 2025, SASSA’s application process includes a biometric verification step to strengthen security and reduce fraud. Most new applications — and some updates — require a quick fingerprint or facial scan captured via electronic Know Your Client (eKYC) tools.
Applications submitted without the required biometric information are flagged for review, and applicants are contacted to complete the enrolment step. This helps protect beneficiaries and keeps application processing more consistent and trustworthy.
Grant Payment Delays
Some beneficiaries may experience delays due to ongoing verification processes (means testing and identity checks). If your payment is delayed, ensure your details are correct on the SASSA website and visit an office for assistance if requested.
