Care Dependency Grant pay dates:

• May 2026: Thursday, 7 May 2026
• June 2026: Thursday, 4 June 2026

How much you get (2025)

The Care Dependency Grant pays R2 400 per month.

Who qualifies?

• You are the caregiver of a child under 18 who has a severe disability and needs care all the time.
• Your household meets the income thresholds (limits are higher for married households).
• The child is not living in a state‑funded institution.

Medical assessment

Please bring a medical assessment that confirms the child’s permanent severe disability and need for full‑time care. SASSA may ask for a further review.

Documents you need

• Please bring your ID and the child’s birth certificate.
• Bring the recent medical assessment (doctor’s report).
• Bring proof of income for parents/caregivers.
• Bank account details are recommended for easier payment.

How to apply

1. Visit a SASSA office with your ID, the child’s birth certificate, medical report, and proof of income.
2. An official will help you complete the application and capture the documents.
3. Keep your receipt and wait for the outcome (up to 90 days). If approved, back‑pay from your application date is included.
